For those of us that lived in Hinsdale in the 60's and early 70's, Vernon Hansen was a part of the culture. To most he was an intrusive and challenging presence. The village tolerated his boisterous rambling and gently guided him out the door when necessary. I am glad to have known him personally. I spent a Summer afternoon with Vern back in the early 70's and photographed him. These photographs are precious to me. I am a better person for having known him.
